Outreach:
Calvary in Action
From actively assisting in our regular Sunday Worship to
providing others within the community with pastoral care and meals, to
serving those outside our community who are in need, service and
outreach are key parts of our mission.
Apostles' House
Among the activities Calvary
participates with Apostles' House in Newark: Our youth groups are part
of an annual Halloween Party there, the YAC group sponsors the
Christmas Gift Tree every year. Our annual Lenten mite box collection
and "Essentials For Living" generally benefit Apostles' House, and the
children come to Summit every year for an Easter Egg Hunt with Calvary's
children.
Apostles House Food
Pantry
This Diocese of Newark program distributes a lot of food to the needy. Bring non-perishable food to the Church and leave it in the
food baskets in the back of the church.
Our donations have been going to the pantry at Apostles' House for
several years. Contact:
Dick and Brenda Ash.
Bridges Ministry
An ecumenical ministry, drawing on volunteers in
churches across Summit to prepare bag lunches for the homeless in New
York City.
Blood Drive
Since 1995, Calvary has hosted a blood drive in the Parish Hall, usually
mid-May. Parishioners publicize the drive,
contact donors, work up a schedule, bake cookies for the donors and
prepare dinner for the workers. Contact Tod and Barb

Office Volunteers
To keep Calvary running smoothly, volunteers help
our office manager with a variety of tasks, like answering the phone at
staff meetings, getting out reminder cards and children's bulletins and
welcome letters to newcomers. Biggest group of all is the faithful crew
who helps assemble the Canticle, our parish newsletter, for mailing
every month. Contact:

Pastoral Care
Committee
The pastoral care committee seeks to
model Christ's love of neighbor by providing care and support when
members of the parish are in need. The committee provides care through
prayer and home communion, visitation and telephone calls, meals for the
sick and bereaved, and providing transportation and making errands. Contact:
